Here are some Samples of what we do in Art!!!
NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!
You will be required to bring minimal supplies for each project only as needed, such as inexpensive colored pencils, brushes, glue, scissors, things normally found at home, and occasionally, paper, just for your student. My goal is to keep your costs low! Grades 3 and up. |
----> REGISTRATION DIRECTIONS: 1. PLEASE email me and I will send you an Registration Form. 2. READ the Art Class Rules below (scroll down). If you have any questions, please email me. You must read/agree with terms before registering. 3. NOTE: I may be calling you if your children have never attended my art classes for a brief "getting to know you" meeting. Please introduce yourself before or after class on the first day! If you wish to attend the first day of class, you are welcome to do so, provided you do not have small children or pets with you. If you just want to sit in to "check out" the class before signing up, that is fine. I just need to know ahead of time. |
Please read all Information Below before Registering!
Art Class Rules
Parent Information:
Please email or phone with any questions. All parents and students must read and agree to abide by all class rules before attending class. - Classes are open to children with the ability to govern themselves at all times during class. You must contact me before enrolling any student under third grade. - Only registered Creation Art Academy students can attend workshop classes. No pets or animals are allowed in the facility or classroom. Parents, please ask before attending any class, however, I do not want parents staying for more than one class period. I have had parents come and stay and stay and come week after week, and it is hard to keep the attention of the students with more than one adult present. Please talk to me about any special concerns or needs. Students need to have the ability to govern themselves without a parent in the room. - Make up days for bad weather, for example, will be made up on a designated day as available at the facility or we may make the class longer the next time we meet. The makeup day may be another day of the week other than a Wednesday or may take place the first two weeks of May. - Church lobby rules during class: Siblings under age 18 are not allowed to remain in the lobby during class without supervision due to safety issues with the facility. This is to avoid children climbing on stairs, running around, etc. You can bring supervised children in the building/lobby to read or study quietly. There are bathrooms for your use to the left of the classroom door. - There is plenty of parking. Park wherever you like! - I do not give grades in art for my current classes, but I do keep records of all completed work! If you want a letter grade, I will be happy to provide it. I can also give your student a written form of evaluation for record keeping. - Please encourage your students to look at all my website has to offer!!! I try to post completed artwork on this website to share with family and friends! There is a student page and lots and lots of neat examples. Let them EXPLORE!!! Using the website is not a requirement, but a real PLUS! - PLEASE, check your email! This is how I communicate with all parents. You are required to check your email before class each week for snow days, important announcements, etc. THANK YOU! I use this to communicate about supplies, too! - I do understand your student is busy with other schoolwork, however, I do appreciate projects being handed in on time, and if this is not possible, I would like them to communicate that to me ahead of time. I am always willing to work with you! - Year-round classes will not take place on the following class days due to holiday: November for Thanksgiving; December (two weeks) for Christmas break. We will meet all other Wednesdays until the last day of April. This schedule may change but you will be notified. |
Student Rules:
· ALL STUDENTS will show appropriate and respectful behavior at all times as determined by your teacher and First facility. Continuous class disruptions will not be allowed. It is my goal to provide an orderly and godly environment where students are able to learn, where they are comfortable, and where they are safe. Parents will be contacted for positive resolution regarding any behavioral issues whatsoever. Parents will be responsible for disciplinary action where required. I reserve the right to dismiss any student who does not obey class rules. SAFETY is our goal! · No throwing of clay or misusing supplies or materials. No food or drink besides bottled water. No phones/games. · Clean up will take place the last 15 minutes of class and all students are responsible for their entire work space, tools and equipment before dismissal. Please do not throw art work in the trash. I will be glad to take it for you if you do not wish to keep it. · All equipment, tools, supplies, etc., purchased for class use, are the property of Creation Art Academy, and the facility and must remain in the classroom during class and after class is over. - Always do your BEST work, come to class with a positive attitude, and be ready to learn and have fun! |

Our class times together will often include discussion of artists, their work, and responding to specific pieces of artwork—especially our own! Weekly lessons will help define the Elements of Art and the and Principles of Design. The goal in each class is to allow the students to improve and enhance their current ability through a variety of medium such as graphite, colored pencil, chalk, oil pastel, charcoal, ink, etc.
Students will have the opportunity to learn sketching, figure drawing, composition, perspective, color theory, academic art vocabulary, illustration, technical drawing, and graphic design skills, along with the study of various artists. All my art examples are chosen carefully; my goal is for modest and appropriate samples only! Students may be required to do some reading and writing, but there will be no time-consuming outside weekly homework or reports. We mainly work in class.

. . . Photography is Art, too!
Supplies: Students in year-round classes will be required to bring a sketchbook or sketchpad of choice. Target and Walmart are good place to buy inexpensive art supplies as needed. I will let you know ahead of time what is required for each project. Sketchbook paper will be used for quick drawing exercises and weekly drawing assignments throughout the year, as well as in class drawing. I prefer students bring a 3-ring binder with lined paper for note-taking for each class, along with a pencil, eraser, sharpener, glue, scissors, a ruler, & something to carry them in!
Evaluation: Students will be evaluated in the following areas: active participation, effective use of time, completion of tasks, ability to follow directions, cooperation, grasp of knowledge, & Effort!!!
