2014-2015  ART CLASSES Offered:
Art FUNdamentals and Art & Ceramics

This year I am offering two affordable art classes, Art FUNdamentals and Art & Ceramics (sibling discount is available)!  See the left column of this page for more details.

This website will be used solely by my art classes throughout the year to view current lessons, to check weekly reminders, to study visual art examples, and to see a “gallery” of student artwork.  There is also a section for Parents which outlines my philosophy of Art Education, use of curriculum, and methods of student assessment and classroom management.  Please feel free to check it out!

All finished art class student work is posted on the website during the year as projects are completed, so they can be shared and celebrated with family and friends!

ART SHOWS!!!  Your student’s artwork will also be on display in the E.C.H.O. commons each semester.  See the "Gallery" heading above for more examples of art projects that students have completed in previous classes.

1:00  Art FUNdamentals

A basic art class for students 3rd - 8th grades

focusing on the application of the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design to introduce, process, and strengthen artistic skills.

Previous art experience is not required.  This class can be repeated, as each subsequent year is always filled with unique lessons and projects!  Students will create many different 2D and 3D art projects using various art mediums, as they learn to draw, paint, design, etc.

Material Fee:  $10 per semester

2:00  Art & Ceramics

For students grades 7 - 12th grades

who have had a prior art class, have a special interest in art, and want to strengthen and further their art skills.

During the First Semester, the focus will be on Drawing and Painting techniques, allowing the student to improve and perfect their current ability through a variety of medium such as watercolor, tempera, paper, graphite, colored pencil, chalk, oil pastel, charcoal, ink, etc.  Students will learn sketching, figure drawing, composition, perspective, color theory, illustration, technical drawing, graphic design, and painting skills.

For the Second Semester, students will concentrate on the fundamental techniques and concepts of Ceramics.  The emphasis will be the exploration in the medium of clay for creative  expression.  Functional and sculptural aspects will be considered through assignments incorporating handbuilding, surface treatments, and glazing methods.

Materials Fee:  $15 per semester
